3Q Developers Educate XP Day London Delegates on their Development Innovations
At the end of November, the 3Q development team visited London to demonstrate to their software peers, how to develop technically excellent software, which creates huge business value to end-user.

DUBLIN, Ireland / December // 3Q Solutions, a Dublin-based provider of financial planning and wealth management solutions recently spoke at the 4th Annual International XP (extreme programming) Day event in London.  The two-day event held on the 25th and 26th of November brought together industry speakers and experts to share their knowledge of Agile practices.

3Q presented two talks during the event.  Sean Coughlan and Team Leader, Steve Quinlan gave their insights into a process called minimum market feature set (MMFS).  Through a presentation titled: “Agile for Start-ups: Minimum Market Feature Set”.  The talk explained how MMFS allows the team to develop working software to get to the market quicker.  “MMFS is about developing a workable feature set that gives sales the confidence to demo and sell the product much faster than the typical process.  The process means the features that add the most business value are prioritised resulting in working software that is usable to the end user.  The presentation was welcomed by developers and many took ideas on board on how this practice can be implemented into their organisation”, commented Quinlan, Team Leader.

Ray Gallagher and Sean O’Donnell explained some of the automation processes which they have implemented in their development of the financial planning tools.  On the second day, “Automation: Begrudge every Keystroke” reviewed a current hot topic within the industry.

“Automation is an Agile process where you identify bottlenecks and develop a process that will shortcut it.  What we presented showed the benefits that we have gained by using automation such as an increase in productivity by over 400%.  This is remarkable and hopefully our message was successfully relayed to the audience”, said O’Donnell, software developer with 3Q.

XP Day brings together companies, academics, developers and managers from both the UK and Europe, who have implemented and are beginning to implement Agile into their software development.  The two days consisted of presentations, workshops, interest groups and panel discussions, and is one of the highlights of the Agile development community in the UK.
